Two Rock Mountain which slope down into the Glencullen valley
We had a good DNFC/Bryo Group
meeting on the southern slopes Two Rock Mountain which slope down into the
Glencullen valley. Three people from DNFC came:- Soniva, Margaret
and Shane. Four others also came - Fernando Fernandez, Kate Marie, Neil
Lockhart and a Swiss student Maud that he brought along. Weather not
great but didn't stop us. We looked at the Wet heath flushes,
focusing on Sphagnum (Sphagnum cuspidatum, S. denticulatum, S. papillosum, S.
palustre, S. subnitens, S. capillifolium, S. fallax, S. inundatum and S.
Squarrosum) but other species too indicative of some mineral influence and
less acidic conditions: Scorpidium revolvens, Campyllium stellatum,
Breuteilia chrysocoma, Pinguicula lusitanica and more. Neil and
Fernando were great, inputing into the id and discussions. Neil also found
Warnstorfia exannulata and Straminergon stramineum.
